CLEANING HOUSE, CLEARING MIND
Cleaning house has become a symbolically meaningful part of my practice— whether it’s the aches in my body calling attention, the relationships I nurture or the place I call my home, each invites contemplation and carries both practical and deeper significance.
As I teenager, I used to put it off. I disliked it cleaning and viewed it as a dreaded chore with no reward. But as I matured, I started to feel a connection with myself when consistently cared for my body: making time to prepare my meals from whole foods, valuing rest and becoming disciplined in my physical and spiritual practices. I soon realized that maintaining my home and my relationships reflected the same kind of care, evaluation and attention. I started to see the parallels. It became clear that neglecting these areas meant neglecting parts of myself.
Most clients that come to my classes or work with me privately tell me that connection is what draws them to this space, to understanding more about their bodies. They want to feel more connected to their bodies and to the community of like minded people that also show up here. Connection isn’t only found through impressive skills or big goals. Basic tasks like sweeping the floor, folding the laundry, checking in with a friend or just simply moving and sweating can be moments of true connection in the seemingly mundane again and again.

“ Wellbeing is about the combination of our love for what we do each day, the quality of our relationships, the security of our finances, the vibrancy of our physical health, and the pride we take in what we have contributed to our communities. Most importantly, it’s about how these five elements interact.”
